Magic Butterfly

Getting Started

In this craft, we’re going to create a beautiful butterfly using paint and symmetry. We’ll add colorful paint to one side of our paper, fold it in half, and watch the magic happen as the colors press together to form matching butterfly wings. It’s a fun way to explore color, creativity, and how symmetry works in nature!

Instructions + Materials

    1. Fold the Paper is half like a book

    2. Open the paper and paint small blobs of paint on the left wing

    3. Fold the paper closed again and gently press down

    4. Open the paper to reveal your symmetrical butterfly wings

    5. Let the paint dry

    6. Paint or color the butterfly body while you wait for the wings to dry

    7. Cut out the wings and body and glue them together

    8. Lastly, add your own decorations and make your butterfly unique!

    • Additional: Pipe cleaners/googly eyes/glitter/rhinestones
